Emotions are ancient, primal feelings which quickly guide and protect us in our day-to-day lives. Emotions affect us in so many ways. I have yet to find a money management guide or a 'get rich quick' program that dive into the real reason you have not made it. The emotions you feel and your ability to heal and move forward affects your ability to have what you want and to be financially successful.
Once in a positive emotional state you will see and achieve your goal of being financially successful. Financial success is dependent on your emotional state. You will begin to see opportunities right in front of you when you are in a positive state of mind.
I want to give you some background on emotions. A more technical definition for the analysts out there like myself: Emotion is the complex psycho-physiological experience of an individual's state of mind as interacting with biochemical (internal) and environmental (external) influences. According to David G. Myers' 'Theories of Emotion' (2004), emotion fundamentally involves 'physiological arousal, expressive behaviors, and conscious experience.' Emotion is associated with mood, temperament, personality and disposition, and motivation. Per Evolutionary Psychology (2003), motivations direct and energize behavior, while emotions provide the affective component to motivation, positive or negative.
The emotional scale I use when working with clients and during seminars is the Abraham-Hicks Emotional Scale. Through this scale you are able to see the emotions and where you are on the scale. You can then begin to see how your emotions affect your actions and then outcomes of those actions. Most of us go through these emotions in the sequence of negative to positive. I believe that we need to be in one of the top six emotions joy, love, knowledge, empowerment, gratitude or freedom when making decision about money. This is because our emotions affect our behavior and actions. So if we have a strong positive emotional state, our actions will be in line with our emotions which will lead us to strong positive outcomes.
As you move up the scale you will be building a solid emotional foundation. You need to heal and move on from your negative emotions and focus on more positive ones. It is extremely important to go through this in sequence. You cannot jump from depression to joy. Huge emotional shifts from sadness to happiness without healing from the sadness will only set you back. It would be like being on a 'yo-yo' diet, where you lose 10 pounds only to gain back 15. This is not where I want you to be. I want you to be successful.
You need to experience each of these emotions to truly heal, from the inside out. You may not experience all the emotions the same. In fact you might not think you ever experienced one of the emotions, but for the ones you can relate to, you need to heal and move forward to financially recover.
